How Browsers Work? Interesting question… for sure. As a web developer, learning the internals of browser operations helps you make better decisions and know the justifications behind development best practices.
This comprehensive primer on the internal operations of WebKit and Gecko is the result of much research done by Israeli developer Tali Garsiel. Tali published her research on her site, but later Paul Irish (Google Chrome Team, HTML5 Boilerplate) and his team knew it deserved a larger audience, so they cleaned it up and republished it.
WARNING: It’s a HUGE document and its unlikely it can all be grasped on the first read. This is the best freely available in-depth article that I have encountered till date and it explains the workings of browsers thoroughly. Thank you Tali Garsiel, Paul Irish and his team for this amazing piece of work!
